One of the oldest oral traditions in South Africa is that of the Xhosa or Zulu Praise Singer. This is a writer or poet who sets the scene and the tone at important occasions such as births, weddings, initiations, inaugurations and ceremonies. The praise singer honours the virtues and accomplishments of the person and documents important moments in history. They typically use elaborate metaphors of animals and nature.
We tapped into this unique cultural phenomenon to speak to the Men’s Health African audience and to celebrate twenty years of men’s amazing achievements.
